Explanation
Quality prosthesis
At Mallorca Health Care we use a next generation hip prosthesis made of cobalt-chrome metal alloys with a titanium coating to ensure a better adaptation to the bone. They are cutting-edge prostheses that meet the highest quality assurance. The range includes from the classical polyethylene metal prothesis to the most sophisticated of next-generation ceramic. Depending on the type of injury we use partial or full protheses.

Causes
The most common cause of chronic knee pain and disability is arthritis. Although there are many types of arthritis, most knee pain is caused by only three types: osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis and post-traumatic arthritis.
When is surgery recommended?
People who benefit from total knee replacement surgery often have:
- Severe pain or stiffness in the knee limiting the daily activities, including walking, climbing stairs, sitting and getting up from a chair.
- Moderate to severe knee pain while resting, both during the day and night.
- Chronic inflammation and swelling of the knee that do not improve with rest or medications, knee deformity.
- No substantial improvement with other treatments such as anti-inflammatory medications, cortisone injections, lubricant injections or physical therapy.
- Deformities of the lower limb with corrections on its axis.
Surgery candidates
Anyone without severe major disease, after passing the corresponding evaluation by our orthopedic surgeons, can undergo a knee replacement, except those who do not meet the criteria recommended by the International Scientific Societies.
